This collection of old tarnished teapots and tea strainers was inspired by my grandmother's silver teapot (the first image). I really love the contrast between the shiny and dark dulled areas of the silver and decided to find more tarnished tea themed objects to paint - hence the tea strainers. Next, on to sugar bowls, creamers and tea caddies.
This past weekend, we went to the Victorian Stroll celebration in Troy, NY. It's great fun to see all the people out and about, some dressed in their finest Victorian attire. I snapped some photos and did some sketching.
Although it was very cold, it gave us a chance to catch some lunch and tea at The Whistling Kettle tea shop. They have the greatest selection of teas and delicious crepes!
This month our art group has been working on animal studies. I, of course, chose to work with cats. These were all done using watercolor and ink on 4x4 Aquabord watercolor panels.
This is Arietta. I jokingly wrote in pencil on the side "il ladro pane", which in Italian loosely translates to "bread thief"... which she is.
